100 Days Missing – The Recap

Today, September 11th, is the 100th day since Kyron Horman’s disappearance on June 4th.  Here is a brief recap of what has been shared by investigators and uncovered by the media so far.

June 4th – Kyron arrived at Skyline Elmentary at 8am and was looking at the science fair exhibits with his step-mother, Terri Moulton Horman.  Terri Horman photographed Kyron standing next to his project.

At 8:45, Terri Horman reported leaving the school, seeing Kyron walk towards the classroom.  Kyron was initially reported by authorites to be last seen by a classmate at 9am, but officials later retracted that.

At 3:30, Terri Horman went to the school bus stop to meet Kyron, who was not there.  A call to the school revealed that he was marked absent that day.  At 3:46, the school secretary called 911 to report him missing.  A phone broadcast to school parents informing them that Kyron was missing initiated at 5:30, and searchers began their search around Skyline Elementary shortly after 8pm.

June 18th – Multnomah county investigators circulate this questionnaire which seeks information from anyone who saw Kyron, Terri Horman, or the family’s white truck the day of Kyron’s disappearance.

June 28th – Kaine Horman, Kyron’s father filed for divorce and a restraining order against Terri Horman.  This restraining order was later revealed to say “I believe Respondent (Terri Horman) is involved in the disappearance of my son Kyron….Respondent attempted to hire someone to murder me.  The police have provided me with probable cause to believe the above two statements to be true.”  Investigators reported that Terri Horman tried to hire their gardener to kill Kaine.

July 14th – On the Today Show, Desiree Young, Kyron’s biological mother, said that without a doubt, she believes that Terri Horman is involved in the disappearce of her son.

August 11th – Investigators release an updated questionnaire, seeking information about Dede Spicher, a close friend of Terri Horman.  Earlier, police searched the property where she was working the day of Kyron’s disappearance.  Two days later, Spicher, in an interview with People Magazine, said that she never left the property that day, and went on to defend Terri Horman.

August 28th – At an interview with Good Morning America, Desiree Young gave a message to Terri Horman that “You will go to jail.”

Today – Multnomah County investigators continue their regular press releases that they continue to search for Kyron, and are unable to release details as it is an ongoing investigation.  Kyron’s father, mother, and step-father continue the search for Kyron, and supporters continue organizing fundraising activities to help fund this search.

The tip line is still open, and anyone with any information that could help find Kyron is urged to call investigators at (503) 261-2847.

For a more detailed timelines of case events, they are available at the Oregonian and the KGW News websites.

Spicher to People “I never left the property that day”

DeDe Spicher, in an interview with People Magazine, said that she “never left the property that day” referring to the 35 acre property where she was gardening.  Her statement contradicts her boss and another coworker at the property, who say she left the property from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM the day of Kyron’s disappearance.  Multnomah County Sheriff’s investigators also appear to believe she left the property, distributing a flyer which asked people who saw Spicher in the area around Kyron’s school to come forward, and searching the property where she was gardening.

Spicher went on to defend Terri Horman, Kyron’s stepmother who has become a focus of the investigation, saying “I have not seen anything that would lead me to believe that she is capable or motivated in any way to do something like this.”

This belief is definitely not shared with Kyron’s father, Kaine Horman, who in his June 28th restraining order against Terri, wrote “I believe respondent [Terri Horman] is involved in the disappearance of my son Kyron who has been missing since June 4, 2010.”

New Kyron Horman Flyer Seeks DeDe Spicher Sightings

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office is circulating a new flyer to residents near Skyline Elementary School where Kyron Horman was last seen.  The new questionnaire is an update from an earlier questionnaire, with questions about sightings of Kyron removed, and requests for sightings of DeDe Spicher replacing them.

DeDe Spicher has become a recent focus of the Kyron Horman investigation.  Last month, she testified to a grand jury and her condo was searched.  Earlier this week, police searched the area where she was believed to be gardening the day of Kyron’s disappearance.
